History of the TSU SENSATIONS DANCE PROGRAM

Tigress Sensations Dancin’ To The Beat

(1997) New on the scene for basketball season in the year of 1997 was a tantalizing mesmerizing dance group called “The Tigress Sensations”. The dance group debuted in January of 1997 when he Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) competition began. These ladies pumped up the volume and danced during the halftimes and alternating time outs. Their performances added excitement and pep to the basketball games.

Composed of some former majorettes and others, this group added entertainment which was a key factor for the group. Formed by the legendary Veronica Allen, the first choreographer was Wendell King and the first captain was Mia Bluitt.

Under the current direction of Gretchen Jean, the NBA is the inspiration as she was a NBA Rockets Dancer and current NBA Space City Senior Dancer. Coach Gee continues to uphold the legacy established while making its mark as one of the premier dance lines of all HBCU’s. Her goal is to create another dance genre/style for HBCU dancers. She had a goal for 18 years to get any of the dance lines at Texas Southern University to compete nationally. for the past 2 years The Sensations attended NCA Camp and received bids to attend Nationals in Daytona Florida.

Hair: Audition appropriate and performance ready

Makeup: Performance ready, cover tattoos, no jewelry, only earring studs
